Bio-Polymer Trench

This project included the construction of 250 LF of drainage trench. The trench was constructed at an active facility in a parking area adjacent to a busy street. The purpose of the project was to eventually draw the groundwater plume back to the parking area. The project was performed in a highly sensitive community, with no occurrences.

The trench was 2 feet wide, with a maximum depth of 20 feet. The trench contained cleanouts at each end which were connected to a central sump, via 6 inch HDPE pipe along the bottom of the trench. A filter fabric envelope surrounded the backfill gravel in the trench. The new drainage trench system was connected to an existing header for onsite treatment.

The project was completed on schedule with minimum interference to the facility. The trench is producing above the expected design flow.
