Geo-Con was the general contractor for the site remediation activities at the Kane and Lombard Superfund site, a formerly unpermitted seven-acre landfill located in Baltimore, Maryland. The project involved the entire cleanup and safe closure of the NPL site and the work scope consisted of the following:

  • construction of a 50,000 sf slurry wall;

  • installation of a composite cap consisting of compacted clay and 320,000 sf of VLDPE liner;

  • establishment of permanent site facilities (water and electric);

  • cleanup of surface debris;

  • clearing and grubbing;

  • site grading;

  • leachate extraction system;

  • permanent soil erosion and surface water management structures; and

  • post-closure maintenance.

All work was completed within the required time schedules and final billings were under the government's budget.
