ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRUCTION AND REMEDIATION

Cap and Cover
Lockhaven, Pennsylvania

This project involves the re-grading of potentially contaminated soils, installation of an engineered cover (cap) and improvements to the water management system at a former ink and dye manufacturing facility. Soils at the site are potentially contaminated with analine and other by-products of the industry.

Re-grading tasks include the relocation of wastes from three impoundments on the site. This includes the placement of imported soils to the extent necessary to achieve the planned subgrade. Select fill material will then be placed in preparation for liner and geocomposite materials. The geotextiles to be placed at the site include a 40 mil LLDPE liner and a geonet composite material.

The improvements to the storm water management system will be installed consequently with the geotextile and liner material. These improvements consist of high capacity perimeter drainage channels, three new tie-ins to the city storm sewer system and 400 linear feet of culvert and collection piping.

Work at the site will complete with the installation of a cover system over the liner materials. This system will consist of 18" of cover soils and 6" of topsoil.
