GEOTECHNICAL CONSTRUCTION
Soil Bentonite Slurry Wall
Home Depot
Seminole, Florida
Geo-Con installed a 24,965 square foot soil-bentonite slurry cutoff wall around the perimeter of a retention pond at the Home Depot in Seminole, FL. The slurry trench was excavated between depths of 15 to 22 feet below ground surface, where it was keyed into the underlying confining layer.
The soil-bentonite material was mixed using a minimum 3.0% bentonite addition. Project specifications required an insitu permeability of 1.0 x 10-6 cm/sec for the cutoff wall. Independent laboratory test results yielded permeability values conforming to the project requirements.
