GEOTECHNICAL CONSTRUCTION

Soil-Bentonite Cutoff Wall
Sutter Bypass Levee
Sutter County, California

Construction of 102,000 sf soil-bentonite barrier wall, and 87,000 sf toe drain. The toe drain protects the Sutter Bypass levee by diverting groundwater from seeping into the foundation soils. The barrier wall protects the toe drain from silts migration. Geo-Con constructed the toe drain using the Bio-Polymer slurry method which enabled us to excavate a near vertical trench 1 foot wide and up to 17 feet deep. The toe drain contained 1-inch crushed rock wrapped in geotextile. Geo-Con installed the geotextile using pre-fabricated steel frames which secured the fabric in the trench with the proper overlap, and minimized material waste.
