WETLANDS CONSTRUCTION
Having performed the largest privately funded wetlands restoration project in the United States plus several other high profile projects, Geo-Con has established a reputation for possessing a diversity of skills, the knowledge of sensitive ecosystems, and safe, quality production. Our expertise encompasses enhancement, mitigation, remediation, development and restoration of marshlands in both tidal estuaries and upland freshwater environments.
By producing successful wetlands projects on a large scale, our staff has gained invaluable experience and developed unmatched capabilities in working under difficult circumstances. Daily and seasonal flooding, unstable soil conditions, vulnerable ecosystems and strict permit requirements regarding endangered species and habitat protection are some of the challenges that Geo-Con has learned to manage. Having made substantial investments in specialized equipment and cross-training our production crews to understand the biological and economical htmlects of this unique type of construction, Geo-Con is well prepared to meet the needs of our clients both public and private. We also have full capabilities to provide turnkey products including permitting, engineering and design through our staff and partners.
Geo-Con understands that wetlands projects, while having many similarities with respect to their working conditions, can have a diverse set of goals and objectives. We have a comprehensive working knowledge of many types of wetlands work including: mitigation, banking, constructed cells (phyto-remediation), active remediation (treatment or removal of contaminants), waterfowl habitat construction, development and restoration. Some common elements of these projects within our capabilities include; establishing optimal flow characteristics, sustaining functional land forms (upland, emergent and submerged), controlling sedimentation and erosion, constructing access roads and educational observation structures, channel development (hydraulic dredging and pontoon excavation), water management, flood protection and landscaping.
